Partner with Microsoft in Building Cloud Apps

Day 1 at WPC: Windows Azure Appliance

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

Today we announced that Windows Azure will be looking to provide a private cloud offering in the future.  We’re currently working with a few key partners and customers: HP, Fujitsu, Dell, and Ebay.  Partners I talked to about the announcement were excited about this new choice in how they build cloud solutions.  I got a chance to talk with Bob Muglia at a BBQ event put on outside the Windows Azure container in the WPC Expo hall and he mentioned that he expects this to be very attractive to hosters who want to offer Windows Azure in countries where Microsoft doesn’t have a datacenter.  Other partners were interested in the opportunities to serve enterprise customers and governments with sensitive data requirements that require a deeper level of control or regulation.
